Yahoo’s outgoing mail server can be used also into an email client like Mozilla Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook. That is, you can send emails with your Yahoo account using a desktop application instead of its normal webmail service. Plus, the setup process is very easy.
Only remember that if you plan to send bulk emails, Yahoo puts a limit of 500 emails/day and 100 recipients/email to its outgoing mail server: moreover, even if you split your database into smaller chunks and organize different mailings, Yahoo’s SMTP server won’t be able to guarantee a full delivery rate.
That’s why it’s better to choose a professional SMTP server like turboSMTP: you can subscribe and get immediately 6.000 free relays per month, lifetime.
And now, here’s how to configure your mail client. First of all open the configuration window:
and then fill the fields with Yahoo’s outgoing mail server settings, which are:
- Yahoo outgoing mail server address: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
- Yahoo outgoing mail server user name: your Yahoo Mail account
- Yahoo outgoing mail server password: your Yahoo Mail password
- Yahoo outgoing mail server port: 465 or 587 (for further information, check our article about SMTP ports)
