A custom tracking domain puts tracked links and open-tracking images under a domain you control. It helps recipients recognize your links, but does not guarantee inbox placement or higher engagement.

Configure your domain

Choose a subdomain such as link.example.com whose DNS you can manage.
1

Open tracking settings

In the dashboard, open Settings → Tracking. Enable open or click tracking.
2

Add the domain

Enable Custom Tracking Domains, click Edit, then Add tracking domain. Enter your domain; Advanced options lets you customize the generated subdomain.
3

Configure DNS

Save the domain and copy both CNAME records into your DNS provider. Use the exact names and targets shown. The second record is shared by subdomains of the same root domain and only needs adding once.
4

Verify

Allow DNS changes to propagate, then click Verify and OK. A green checkmark means verified. For a pending domain, check both records and retry after propagation.

Choose a rotation mode

Below the domain list, select Change this behavior:
  • Do not match sender domain, the default, uses an active tracking domain regardless of sender.
  • Match sender domain prefers the matching domain and otherwise uses an active non-dedicated domain. Mark a domain Dedicated to reserve it for the matching sender domain.
Enable or disable individual domains with their Status switches. turboSMTP monitors configured tracking domains for blacklist listings and contacts you when action is needed. See the official setup guide for more details.
